Course Description

An introduction !

Join IntelliBricks for an eight-week course on Scratch! Using colorful figures called Sprites and a simple drag and drop system, students will design games, short animations, and simple codes! This class will go through coding basics such as loops, sequences, variables, events, and many others. Learning the basic ins and outs of coding will help your student improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, build their confidence with technology, and give them a great depth of knowledge to bring into any future coding ventures. Classes will switch between learning new concepts and implementing the concepts in a fun project. Enroll in our semi-private or small group class, either way, we ensure that our students receive plenty of individual attention from our IB Tutors.

Learning to code with a block based coding language like SCRATCH helps children to gain a foundation in computation thinking through visual learning as opposed to text based coding. The colorful drag and drop blocks used by SCRATCH is very attractive and game-like, which motivates the children to learn and helps to prepare them for text based coding later. IntelliBricks SCRATCH class will teach the basic coding literacy for children required for the digital age. Scratch introduction class is a must before taking the SCRATCH game design and SCRATCH animation class. If you register for the animation class or the game design class without taking the SCRATCH introduction class, we will move your registration to the introduction class.

If your child is interested in doing this class with a friend or sibling or if your child thrives with a companion rather than learning alone, then this class is for you. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a friend or sibling who is interested, we will always pair you up with another child who is as like-minded and looking forward to happy and fun-filled learning sessions as your child.
